About Me

Born and raised in the scenic Pacific Northwest, I pursued my higher education at Western Washington University, located about 90 miles north of my hometown. There, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. Like many young adults, I experienced a quarter-life crisis, unsure of how to turn my passion for languages and cultures into a career. It was during this time that my mom suggested I might be suited for social work. Curious, I explored the graduate programs at the University of Washington and found myself captivated by the course descriptions. It was at that moment I realized I had found my calling.

Driven by a sense of adventure, I decided to attend graduate school out of state at the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration. After earning my master’s degree, I spent the first eight years of my career as an individual and family therapist, specializing in treating children who had experienced severe trauma. Since 2013, my focus has shifted to working with adults who have experienced trauma, a specialization to which I continue to be deeply committed.
